General Rules for All SF Championship Competitions
- All participating clubs must be paid up members of the Southern Photographic Federation.
- Images entered must be entirely the work of the photographer. Composite images are permitted provided all component images meet this requirement. (PAGB wording.)
- There must be no indication of the author or their club on the front of a print or on the PDI.
- No image, or similar image as to be deemed the same, must have been previously entered in any SF Championship or PAGB Inter-club Championships in any format: Print, PDI or Transparency.
- In the event of a tie for any of the awards a count back will apply; highest number of 15s, then 14s, etc.
- There will be 3 judges scoring electronically in a range of 2 to 5.
- All work will be judged in random order.
- The Championship will run as a straight battle between all participating clubs with all images contributing to the final score.
- A member representing more than 1 club may not submit images that are so similar as to be deemed the same.
- Any club presenting the SF at a PAGB competition must abide by the PAGB rules including the restriction of Natural History work.
- In the event of a photographer being a member of both first and second placed clubs they will only be able to represent 1 club. The photographer must therefore declare which club they will represent in accordance with PAGB rules.
- The Council reserve the right to amend the rules for any specific event and in any dispute the decision of the SF Council will be final.
- Entries will not be accepted after the closing date as determined by the Council.
- The Southern Photographic Federation cannot accept liability for the loss or damage of any image.
- All trophies must be returned.
- Any breach of these rules may lead to disqualification at the discretion of the Council.
- The Council reserve the right to use digital images entered into Southern Photographic Federation competitions and Exhibition to produce a presentation CD, show on the web gallery and be considered for any PAGB digital competitions and exhibitions. If an author does not wish for their work to be used in this way it must stated so with their club's entry. The author's copyright will be observed.
Print Championship Specific Rules
- Each club shall submit 20 prints with no more than 4 per author.
- The mount must be 50cm x 40cm but there is no minimum print size. All Velcro or fixings that may cause damage to other competitors' prints must be removed.
- Prints must be identified by title, author, club and reference number. Titles and authors must be emailed to the organiser prior to the event by the due date. Labels will be provided on the day.
- The winning club will be determined by the highest total score and will receive the Pat Christiansen Memorial trophy.
- The club in second place will receive The Plate trophy.
- The club scoring the highest number of 10s will receive the 334 Print Trophy.
- There will be an award for the best individual image from those scoring 14 or 15 depending on number of prints.
- The first and second placed clubs will be invited to represent the SF at the PAGB Inter-club Print Championships unless pre-qualified under PAGB rules.
- If either the first or second placed club has pre-qualified or declines, then the next highest scoring club will be invited to represent the Federation.
Digitally Projected Championship Specific Rules (PDIs)
- Each club shall submit 20 images with no more than 4 per author.
- Entries must be submitted on PC format CD-ROM and sent to the organiser prior to the event by the due date.
- The CD must be identified with club name, contact information and the club's SF number printed on the disk. The media must be marked with indelible pen.
- Files must be submitted in the format as determined by Council. Participating clubs will be advised in advance of the entry date.
- Image files must be named as: SF club number and image number, underscore, title, underscore and author (with distinctions) with file extension of .jpg; example for club 07's 20th image: 0720_The Rose_Ann Other ABCD.jpg
- The winning club will be determined by the highest total score and will receive the Gems Memorial trophy.
- The club in second place will receive The President's Trophy
- The club scoring the highest number of 10s will receive the 334 PDI Trophy.
- There will be an award for the best individual image from those scoring 14 or 15 depending on number of images.
- The first and second placed clubs will be invited to represent the Southern Photographic Federation at the PAGB Inter-club Digital Championships unless pre-qualified under PAGB rules.
