Appointment of SF Judges
The judging structure and process are currently being reviewed by the Council.
This is the current procedure governing the appointment of further persons to the SF Judges' Panels.
Preliminary Judges List
This is for Club members who wish to experience judging first hand prior to committing themselves to applying for Panel 'B' accreditation. Applicants wishing to be included on this list must comply with the following requirements:
  1. Must be an active member of a club affiliated to the SF.
  2. Must make a written application to the Secretary of the SF.
Panel 'B': Judges for club and Inter-club Competitions
Applicants wishing to be included in Panel 'B' must comply with the following requirements:
  1. Must be an active member of a club affiliated to the SF.
  2. Must make a written application to the Secretary of the SF. This application is to include an official letter from an SF affiliated Club, signed by the President, Chairman and/or Secretary proposing the candidate for inclusion in the SF Judges' Panel 'B' and detailing the applicant's qualifications and suitability to undertake judging. The club providing this letter need not be the same club as the one of which the applicant is a member.
  3. They must have attended a Judging Seminar organised by the SF and undertaken an assessment.
  4. Any applicant now residing within the boundaries of the SF and who is an active member of the Panel 'B' or similar judging list of another PAGB affiliated Federation will normally be accepted by the SF without compliance with paragraphs 1 & 2 above, though Council reserve the right to check their suitability with that Federation.
Panel 'A': As per Panel 'B' and Open, National and International Exhibitions
Applicants wishing to be included in Panel 'A' are required to comply with the following:
  1. Must be an active member of a club affiliated to the SF.
  2. Must already be an active Judge on the SF Panel 'B'.
  3. They are required to make a written application to the Secretary of the SF outlining their qualifications and suitability for inclusion in the Panel 'A' judging list. This application should also include:
    a) A written statement covering a period of not less than 5 years, detailing the Clubs for which judging has been carried out and frequency if more than once. This may also include other events: e.g. Exhibitions where the applicant has judged.
    b) Names of 3 clubs affiliated to the SF to whom reference can be made by the Council.
  4. They must attend a Judging Seminar organised by the SF and undertake an assessment.
  5. Any applicant now residing within the boundaries of the SF and who is an active member of the Panel 'A' or similar judging list of another PAGB affiliated Federation will normally be accepted by the SF without compliance with paragraph 1 above, though Council reserve the right to check their suitability with that Federation. Council will not normally consider inclusion of a judge residing outside the boundaries of the SF within the Panel 'A' listings.
General Notes
  1. The SF reserves to itself the right, in special cases, to waive the need to comply with all or any of the requirements set out above, for both Panel 'A' and 'B'.
  2. All applications for the inclusion in Judges' Panels 'A' or 'B' shall be considered by the SF Council who, at their discretion, shall accept or reject them, and the decision of the Council shall be final.
  3. The Council reserves the right to review all Judges.
