League Dates for 2012/13 & 2013/14 Seasons
Dates for the next 2 seasons have been agreed by Council. Taking into account feedback from clubs small changes have been made. There is a greater separation between the notification of fixtures and the first match allowing clubs to better plan the transportation of prints. The fixture window is now aligned with the BST/GMT clock changes to ensure that lighter evenings are avoided and League Finals Day can be brought forward. 2012/13 Fixtures

Recommended PDI Resolution is 1400 x 1050 pixels
We recommend that all authors should work to the PAGB standard of 1400 pixels wide by 1050 pixels high. Clubs considering the purchase of a projector should bear this resolution in mind. For work to represent the Southern Fed at PAGB competitions images at this resolution should yield the optimum quality; we cannot use PDIs that exceed these dimensions.
The use of smaller resolutions in SF League PDI matches will be kept under review. For the 2011/12 season of the PDI League images must be provided in both 1400x1050 and 1024x768 dimensions.

A very successful Finals Day was held at Jubilee Hall, Timsbury on Sunday 15th May with an excellent attendance filling the hall. The judge for the day, Martin Faiers of the SPA, was particularly impressed by the high standard of work on display and it was obvious that he would have his work cut out.
SF President Terri Neill-Griffin was Master of Ceremonies and after a few introductions the best PDIs were projected first. Although there was a spread of subjects, there was a fair proportion of Natural History work and the large number of birds on show drew plenty of praise. Whittling down rapidly to the best dozen or so, Martin then appraised the images prior to further filtering down to the top five. After a long deliberation, Basingstoke CC's Keith Polwin was delighted to see his Young Swallows take the honours.

Choosing the best individual Prints was no easier for Martin. The quality of the work was such that choosing the best image took some time and Martin was unable to resist awarding five highly commendeds. This time Fergus Cowhig of New Forest CC was victorious with his Barn Owl in Flight.
In the Invitation Match to choose the clubs representing the Southern Fed at Connah's Quay, L4 winners Fordingbridge CC just pipped L3 winners Highcliffe & Infinity CC by half a mark. They now join pre-qualifiers Chichester CC.
Terri closed the event by presenting certificates to the 2010-11 League winning clubs and thanked the judge and all those involved. Thanks went to Les Lloyd for his efforts in revamping the League at the beginning of the season and Chris Neill-Griffin, Steve Kirkby and especially scorer Bill Flood for ensuring the new Leagues' success.
Many thanks are also due to the Lofts for the refreshments during the interval and John Walters amongst numerous others who provided valuable assistance with preparing the room.
