Doug's first interest in photography was with a cine camera while he was a civil servant working in Africa.
Because of ill health he took early retirement and they came to live in Awbridge. Doreen, his wife, joined the Romsey Art Group.
After one of the annual meetings between Viewfinders and the Art Group in the early 1980's Doug and Doreen joined Viewfinders.
Doug's main interest was landscape photography, concentrating on black and white prints. It was with a panel of mono prints that he gained his LRPS, shortly after Doreen had also gained hers.
He was a member of Viewfinders committee for a number of years during which he was Internal Competition Secretary. Doreen acted as his assistant. During all the years of their membership of Viewfinders both Doug and Doreen were some of the most regular faces seen at the Club's weekly meetings.
Both Doug and Doreen were also members of Southampton Camera Club and during that time for a few years handling the print entries for their International Exhibition.
