Minutes of the Southern Photographic Federation 1 APOLOGIES. Ian Bigg, Ernie Fulbrook, Trevor Muston, Leo Rich, Beaulieu CG, Gems PS, Gibraltar PS, New Forest CC. 2 PRESENT. Alton CC, ASIPS, Basingstoke CC, Bournemouth PS, Chichester CC, Disabled PS, East Berks PS, Fareham & Portchester CC, Farnborough CC, Fordingbridge CC, Gosport CC, Havant CC, Hayling Cc, Highcliffe & Infinity CC, Horndean CC, Locksheath & Sarisbury CC, Marwell Zoo PG, Ordnance Survey PS, Peterfield PS, Poole & Dist. CC, Prism CC, Salisbury CC, Southampton CC, South Reading CC, Spectrum, Steyning CC, Viewfinders CC, Wimborne CC, Winchester PS, Wonston & Worthys CC, Wolston CC, Yateley CC. 3 MINUTES OF MEETING 160. (Held 6 th Dec. 2004) approved and signed. 4 MATTERS ARISING. (a) 2005 Online Comp. now running. B. Powell will judge. 5 DIGITAL DAY – Sun. 13 th Mar. All clubs, judges, lecturers notified of lecture by Tony Riley. Lecture will deal with set ups needed for digital equipment, running of digital presentations/comps. and advise on possible purchase by clubs of equipment - will also assist judges not familiar with digital printing/manipulation. Event being subsidised by SPF – entry fee only £4 ,payable on day, (N.B.price incorrectly given at Quarterly) but important to reserve place with Leo Rich as space limited. 6 PRESIDENT'S REPORT. PAGB Distinctions - Should anyone feel their work is of suitable standard, although not meeting SPF requirements, contact should be made with Leo Rich, SPF Awards Officer. The following were awarded distinctions at Nov. assessment. CPAGB – Nigel Copcot, Petersfield PS: Chris Bradley, Bracknell CC: Pat Mitchell, Havant CC. DPAGB – Debbie Bradley, Bracknell CC. Roger Sims, Woolston CC was presented with his APAGB award by SPF President. PAGB have requested all Federations and clubs to ensure that their constitution has a ‘closure' clause in it. Essential if club making lottery application. Funds to photographic charity rather than members. 7 TREASURER'S REPORT. Current financial situation: Cash £126.50. C/A £461.99. D/A £4280.15. Subs. of £1518 (69 clubs at £22) paid in Jan. to PAGB. All outstanding subs. from clubs now received. 59 clubs taken up PAGB insurance – long delay likely before receipts come from brokers. JM can give temp. receipt if needed. Although broker has changed All Risks insce. still with same providers. Queried re mail going astray in post - JM advised he had contacted any club where insce o/s by deadline of 15 th Jan. as safeguard. 8 SECRETARY'S REPORT. Various documents were available for collection, including SPF Diary for 2005/6 and latest Newsletter. 9 ROLL OF HONOUR. Nothing to report. President reminded clubs that it should be used to honour members giving service to their clubs. 10 COMPETITION SECRETARIES' REPORTS. A) League. Third rounds now all complete. In Southern League, Ord. Survey in prints and Spectrum in slides through to semi finals. In 2006 Finals Day will be on Sun. 30 th April at the Crosfield Hall, Romsey - one semi final will be on 30 th March, hosted by Newbury CC. Volunteer club, preferable from southern area, needed to host other. Meeting advised by Treasurer, following confusion in a previous year, guidelines are issued to hosting clubs on financial commitments. B) Slide Championship. President advised Southampton CC won event held on 30 th Jan. Spectrum came second with Joy Gardner of Spectrum winning Leo Rich Trophy for best individual slide. Horndean won Link Trophy. The trophy for small clubs had actually been won by Beaulieu PG - Spectrum were subsequently found not to be in this category. It was asked whether to avoid confusion in future, clubs should be required to show membership numbers on entry form. Apologies from President for issuing wrong award certs. on the day. Corrected ones were handed out. Fordingbridge CC thanked for hosting event. John Mahany (Event Organiser) detailed work involved in hosting – considerable admin. difficulties beforehand, but no running problems on day. Club running event received profit from raffle as inducement. 11 EXHIBITION SECRETARY'S REPORT. T he considerable work done before the hanging, made that a very easy job this year. Curator's idea of uniform sized mounts now seems to be taking off & panels with similar coloured mounts worked very well. Bill thanked everyone who had helped with the exhibition in whatever way. It appeared there were only two days when no one there to steward. Over 1100 visitors recorded and 300 voted in ‘My Favourite Picture' comp. The winner was ‘Pony Trekking , Cumbria ' by Norrie Phillips of Highcliffe and Infinity CC., with 25 votes, who was presented with trophy. Winning voter, drawn out by Norrie was C. Friend of Pikes Hill, Lyndhurst . Next year there will be space for 39 print panels. Entry forms now available for collection /distribution for 2006 Exh. Any club entering can continue corres. etc. by e.mail. Returned slides/prints from 2005 Exh. there for collection. Names also being taken for next year's slide rota. President thanked Bill and his assistant, Geoff Kelland for all work put in on Exh. 12 PAGB EXHIBITION SECRETARY'S REPORT. W ork from 2004 PAGB Print Exh. due to be returned shortly. Work for consideration for this year's Exh. urgently needed. Can be handed in on Finals Day or at SPF AGM. Has to be with PAGB by 1 st June. 13 PUBLICITY SECRETARY'S REPORT. Although space in Exh. catalogue sold to value of £440, so far only £135 received. All those who have paid willing to advertise again next year. David thanked by Anne for all work put in. 14 NEWSLETTER EDITOR'S REPORT. In his absence, reported that current Newsletter now on Web. Use PDF link if on broadband. Copy/info. needed for future issues. Deadlines:- May issue – 12 th April. Sept. issue – 12 th August. Dec. issue - 12 th November. 15 HANDBOOK SECRETARY'S REPORT. In his absence, his report again reiterated that Clubs are not advising changes in officials, or of addresses – particularly e.mail addresses. Delegates asked to remind Club Secs. of this need. Very important also that when completing details for inclusion in next year's handbook, every question answered, including club membership numbers. 16 WEBMASTER'S REPORT. The site's home pages at start and finish have been redesigned. Would members please review and acquaint Peter of their views on new layout, especially final page. Details given of ‘hits' over past three months. 17 JUDGES SECRETARY'S REPORT. No requests so far to be assessed , so there would be no Judging Seminar this year. If present judges wish to be considered for a different panel, please contact Leo. 18 PAGB EXEC. MEMBER'S REPORT. In his absence no detailed report at SPF Quarterly.
