5. PRESIDENT'S REPORT
Ian reported that we commence yet another new season hard on the heels of our successes in 2005/06 with excellent results at Warwick at the PAGB slide championships with Spectrum winning the plate. The clubs representing us did very well and Ian gave his congratulations to them all. The PAGB exhibition is on at Salisbury Library until 30 th Sept, it's an excellent exhibition and well worth a visit. The SPF also did well in this with a high acceptance rate, coming 5 th in the monochrome section and 2 nd in the colour section. A reminder that the SPF has their first digital competition next year to be held in Newbury, March 2007. There is also a biannual Slide Championship at Viables Craft Centre, Basingstoke on Feb 5 th 2007 . You will notice both of these events are being held in the north of the federation area at your request so please advertise these events to your members and let us have full support. We have handbooks ready for collection, due to the rising costs of postage clubs that do not collect will be asked to pay the postage costs. Labels for the league are also ready for collection.

Ian made a plea to the meeting for the position of Treasurer, he made the point that the answer to any complaints about unbanked cheques lies in the hands of the floor – we desperately need a treasurer as the SPF cannot function without one.

6. SECRETARY'S REPORT
Details of the Slide Championship will be circulated to clubs secretaries in the coming week. Bullet points of all future council meetings will be in Exposure. Copies of Exposure on table for collection, also flyers for the PAGB Exhibition, important this is published at all clubs. Entry forms for Havant Exhibition also on table for collection.

7. TREASURER'S REPORT
Due to no one in post there was no report. Many clubs have sent in cheques and these will be banked this coming week. The question was raised about insurance cover, Ian assured reps that if we had their cheque then it will be fine.

8. EXHIBITION SECRETARY'S REPORT
Still looking for a member that would be willing to take on this job, this exhibition is the SPF's showcase where members are able to show prints and slides to the public for the whole of January at Salisbury Library Galleries. We are indebted to those members who assist us during busy times. Question raised regarding Gavin Roberts who had originally volunteered. Gavin later decided to return to Australia.
Our assistant secretary Geoff Kelland is not a member of the council but very willing to assist in any way he can, he puts together the very important exhibition catalogue.
George requested that clubs sent the titles and names of exhibitors direct to Geoff Kelland, his email address is in handbook. We must have all this information by 31 st October 2006.
This year you will notice we have bought forward the closing date for entries they must be with George by Monday 20th November (the next Representatives Meeting). The reason for the change in date is to make it easier to get the catalogue organised and printed, the Christmas holidays have made this difficult in the past.
All slide entries must be kept separate from the prints – there will be a box at the Reps meeting for the slides. George will accept entries at his home if you are unable to attend the meeting on the 20th.
There is no more room for print entries – 39 already accepted. Slide entries accepted up to 1 st October. The judge will be Mr Peter Upton, MPAGB,FRPS,EFIAP,APAGB, from the Chiltern Federation.
All trophies must be back at the next meeting:
The Woolston Shield (best panel) – Chichester CC, The Federation Trophy (Best Mono Print) – Carole Speight, Chichester, The Herbert Dennis Trophy (best colour print) Peter Bamforth, Chichester, The Federation Sheild (best slide panel) – Southampton CC, Philip Conway Trophy, Keith Polwin, Basingstoke.
The council have made the decision that it is a collection of prints that sits well together. This can be a theme or a collection of different subjects. Details posted on website.

9. LEAGUE COMPETITION SECRETARY'S REPORT
No report other than to say labels are ready for collection. Those clubs not present would receive theirs in the post.

10. PAGB EXHIBTION SECRETARY'S REPORT
Anne gave thanks to Bob Elliott for leading the selection team and thanked all those who have helped in various ways. There were 17 acceptances, 8 colour and 9 mono. We received 1 silver medal this was for Dereliction, Isle of Lewis by Norrie Phillips of Bournemouth PS. To come 5 th in mono and 2 nd in colour is the best we have ever achieved.
The exhibition looks well and is of a high standard, even Peter Riley the curator is impressed. This is a must to visit the pictures are stunning. Make sure your club is displaying a poster. All unsuccessful prints will now be returned. This will be taken down and sent onto Western Counties on the 2 nd October – helpers with the taking down will be more than welcome.
Anne had said this was her last exhibition and as no one had come forward to take this over there will be no Southern entry to the PAGB slide exhibition. It is the federation members that loose out.
Ian gave thanks to Anne for the tremendous work she has done over the years with the exhibitions.

11. HANDBOOK SECRETARY'S REPORT
Dave reported that the new handbooks were ready for collection, extra copies available for £3. Dave stated that there were still errors and he had encountered many problems so there was still a way to go to get this right. He expressed concern about the amount of chasing he had done to get information.
Dave explained to members that the costs of producing this handbook and postage was an ever increasing figure. He said that he had been having conversations with Trevor Muston about getting handbook onto the web in a secure section. There was some concerns about this raised. Dave asked members to send him comments.
Ian thanked Dave for all the hard work he had put into this.

12. PUBLICITY SECRETARY'S REPORT

Approaches made to other businesses to try to generate new adverts.
Dave expressed the need for people to tell our sponsors they are members of the SPF and have seen the adverts.

13. NEWSLETTER EDITORS REPORT
Newsletter now ready to download from website. There is always room for more information from your club. Are you running any competitions our the norm? Tell other clubs about your ideas, who knows this might be a way to encourage inter club relations even further. From website reports it shows than many members are downloading this. Trevor was experiencing problems with emails getting through, now if you send you will get a reply from him, if you do not get this reply please let him know.
Trevor thanked everyone who had sent in material and to those who will in the future.

14 .PAGB EXECUTIVE MEMBER'S REPORT
Leo congratulated Spectrum on their success at Warwick . The digital projection report is on the website, there has been no feedback or comments. As SPF were instrumental in getting the Sub Committee formed we should be in the forefront of supplying them with the information they need based on personal/club experiences.
At the AGM the Technical Sub Committee asked for feedback from clubs on behalf of Mark Buckley Sharp. The question they are asking is What is the correct illumination of the projector? Details of what is required is on the website. Mark's web address is http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/markbuckleysharp . Plea from Leo for clubs to give feedback within the next couple of weeks as a contribution to the research being undertaken made on this.
The SPF have amended the qualifying criteria, again, following further guidance from PAGB who feel the “points” system adopted by some Feds, including our own, is too restrictive. The new wording is in the NEW Handbook. Please advise your members. I had hoped it would also be in exposure – will re-submit to be included in next edition.

15. ROLL OF HONOUR/RECORDS SECRETARY'S REPORT
Since May there have been 2 awards presented to Mr Reg Ricketts of Horndean CC and Mrs Doris Grimley of Bournemough PS. “ more presentations waiting to be made in the near future and 3 more in the pipeline. Keep looking around and ensure you nominate any worthy member of your club for the award.

This will be an informal discussion evening. Anyone interested in becoming a judge would be made welcome should they want to attend.

17. WEBSITE REPORT
The website is getting more hits then ever, although some viewers are still experiencing problems opening some pages and documents. Trevor will post suggestions on the site on how to over come this. Trevor is in process of changing the links which is hoped will make it even easier to navigate the pages.
Clubs can advertise functions and events – just need to send Trevor details.
Online competition been running since June but as yet still only 3 entries. Trevor would like feedback from clubs – do they want to continue with this? Are members unhappy with the way it's run?
