Format may need to be changed with separate competition for slides.
Leo mentioned that cost of copying digital files to slides by say Cavendish would only cost a club approx. £16 as against considerable cost of acquiring digital equipment – so this method should be considered before going down digital route completely.
Chris said he was planning on sending out questionnaire to clubs seeking views.

PAGB Inter Club Slide Championship will be held at Warwick University on July 12th 2008. This is likely to be last year these championships will be held. Proposed move towards a Digital Championship has been put on hold pro. tem. as Kent Federation are opposed to this.
PAGB looking into buying digital equipment – format is biggest problem - experts in UK cannot agree on this - biggest 1900 x 1400 most likely to be used only with TV – PAGB likely to use 1400 x 1050, but awaiting outcome of The Great British Cup being organised on behalf of the PAGB by Rod Whelans.
Advise now for any club applying for Lottery Funding towards cost of digital equipment is apply for TWO projectors – both can then have similar calibration – necessary should one break down in use.
Ian Bigg queried whether SPF should make application for their own under Awards for All funding. Meeting felt Federation should – so this will be looked into by Council. Action SPF Council.
Format of PAGB Print Exhibitions will not however change.
PAGB looking for nominations for JS Lancaster Medal.
16. Great British Cup.
Leo reported that this is a brand new competition being organised by Rod Whelans of Scottish Fed on behalf of the PAGB. Full details in Exposure. Jesssops are interested in sponsoring this event – they would send out entry forms etc. to clubs, but at same time would like to attach publicity materials – to do this they need copies of mailing lists from each federation.
Mention was made of Jessops financial problems – it was suggested that Christmas trade would be deciding factor - Our Handbook has a note on DATA protection – Leo needs to advise PAGB by 15.11.07 of views of our Fed. on whether to supply this info. It was queried what would happen to this info. if Jessops went under – would receiver sell it? As a result of a show of hands of club reps. present at the meeting, Leo said he would advise PAGB that there was sufficient resistance not to supply mailing list to Jessops.
On being advised it was not possible to download an entry form from the website, Leo thought it would be available after Nov. 15th when possible sponsorship by Jessops would be known. As this will be first attempt, the judging will not be open to the general public – only PAGB officials and Federation Representatives have been invited to attend.
17. PAGB Awards Advisory Day/PAGB Assessment Weekend.
Although 30 people attended the Advisory Day at Sparsholt, with 14 panels being viewed by Andy Hanson, President of the East Anglian Federation and Ian Platt, former Chairman of the PAGB Awards Panel, the event has made a small loss.
Andy showed his wife’s panel with which she gained her CPAGB and his own two for both Distinctions and Master Awards. Leo outlined differences between RPS and PAGB honours – RPS tended to be for people specialising whereas the PAGB did not - only that the photography had to be of a high enough standard for the class entered.
Ian mentioned that four people from Jersey who had come over for a photographic weekend in Dorset had come to Sparsholt, some to have their work assessed.
Three more people have applied to enter work for the assessment weekend to be held in April & the Distinctions category now has a full entry with only a few places left at the Credit level.
Help was urgently needed by the SPF Council to run the Assessment Weekend on April 25/26th 2008.
A small working party would need to be set up to co-ordinate the running of the event.

Ian mentioned that Trevor Muston, the Webmaster had recently had family problems but would get the matter resolved. Action Ian Bigg /Trevor Muston.
d). Chris Thorne enquired whether because of problems encountered by SPF in handling PAGB Slide Exhibition some work should have been rejected and had the PAGB been made aware. Ian advised he had been in touch with PAGB and that he would be forwarding to the Yorkshire Federation details obtained by us from the Welsh Federation to assist them in running their next Exhibition.
e). Details given by Anne Mahany of results of PAGB Print Championship. Chichester CC reached the Finals & Soton CC won the Plate Competition. Hugh Milsom won the Trophy for the best print and John Sargeant a Silver Medal awarded by Tom Dodd - both members of Chichester CC.
